Serene Ravine ........ Advantage !
The first thing you will notice about Serene Ravine is that it is a homestay. You come and live in our home, when you stay with us. That gives you a feeling of family – the same hospitality, concern and warmth that you get when you visit nice relatives! Its not like staying in an impersonal hotel at all.
The next thing is that it is so clean! The rooms are well lit and ventilated and therefore there are no nooks and crannies for mosquitoes to hide in. Also the bathrooms and all spaces are spic and span (quite unlike most of the living facilities in the Konkan)
Your stay actually is Serene – that is calm, peaceful and quiet – totally tranquil. And it is a ravine, which means a valley, in the forest! So you see nature at its best. It is so nice, people keep coming again and again and we can see that they are very reluctant to leave in the first place. The weather here is much pleasant than rest of the Konkan ! Your hosts here are lively !
The meals here are absolutely yummy – and if you have a special preference, do let us know so we can try and wiggle it into our menu. The specialty here is fish and modak. The modaks are divine and the fish is absolutely fabulous. We can do the regular pomfret and surmais of course, and for the adventurous ones, we can even serve the local fish prepared the local way! Adds on to a memorable experience.
The ambience is just great. We have guests who spend half their day in the waterfall and the rest on the porch swing! The most wonderful thing is that there is just no city noise – it is just nature, nature and more nature out here. You can see what ‘living green’ means, and in so many shades too.
What to expect in a forest home stay?
Remember that we are actually in a forest, so there is an abundance of birds, butterflies and flowers around us. This also means that it is an active ecosystem, with smaller insects, lizards etc.
Keep an alert watch outside your window. You may spot a hornbill nesting or a serpent eagle in flight. There are also Golden Orials and other exotic birds that call this forest their home.
If you are a butterfly spotter, then this is an amazing place to just walk around.
You will see a lot of wildflowers At Serene Ravine, we have taken a lot of care to keep the area dry and free from mosquitoes. There are also meshes on all windows to keep insects and lizards out, but the occasional one may creep in when we leave doors open. We will help you get rid of it, but please do not panic on seeing these creatures.
